EQ Not IQ: The Basics Plus™

This one and three quarter hour interactive presentation is centered on the fundamentals of EQ – Emotional Intelligence (Quotient) – and on successfully addressing the dramatic impact that stress has on us physiologically.  So far, 98% of the people who have participated in this presentation believe that we’ve made a compelling case for EQ (vs. IQ) as the key to attaining optimal performance and over 99% have said that it was a great investment of their time.

The presentation opens with an explanation of what EQ is based on the work of acclaimed Harvard University trained psychologist and best-selling author Daniel Goleman.  We then take attendees through two exercises that they can use immediately to help lower their stress and increase their well-being.   Next we explain how, in response to choices that we make, the brain instigates the production of the chemicals and the impact that this has on us physiologically.  As the connection between the choices that we make and the brain’s chemistry is made, participants are educated about how quickly and easily the mind can begin using the brain as a resource to neutralize the negative impact of stress and to create more positive, healthy states.

We then show a condensed version of a National Geographic video that profiles the work of Stanford University professor Robert Sapolsky and provides an overview of his research into the damage chronic stress inflicts on us and our productivity.  Next we introduce a menu of topics from Self-Awareness & Self-Assessment to Flexibility and we drill down on the audience’s selection. We then wrap up the event by summarizing what’s been covered, reviewing the exercises that we’ve taught, checking in to insure that all questions have been answered and sharing a final bit of wisdom and insight.  Plenty of Q&A time is afforded for the audience to satisfy any curiosity they may have.
